The 2021 kickstarted with much of the same, the global pandemic is still going strong. Still, coffee lovers around the world won’t let anything get in the way of their morning brew. It’s all about the coffee buzz, right?
Here are the most exciting coffee trends of 2021, in what seems to be a promising future, at least for those of us that can’t live without our cup of joe.
1. More Sustainability All-Around
Besides the global pandemic effects, which are covered below. The single most crucial coffee trend is that now, more than ever, we’re looking for sustainable ways to eat and drink. Craft coffee beans, consuming local, bean-to-cup trends, organic farming and fair trade will finally impact the coffee industry.
People are buying more coffee than ever, especially online, but they’re also being picky. The products that show a more significant commitment towards sustainability and social impact will be the biggest gainers. In fact, we all win.
2. Coffee Subscriptions
Since the global COVID pandemic doesn’t seem to go anywhere, we can expect a 2021 as tough as 2020, but that doesn’t mean exciting trends won’t change the way we experience coffee.
If you can’t go out for your morning brew, you’ll have to make yourself at home. And since you’re already used to the good stuff, you’ll want to have the finest coffee blends in hand. This means both online coffee sales and coffee subscriptions will grow exponentially. If you can’t go to your coffee, let your coffee come to you with the support of the best coffee subscription.
3. Coffee Education
Precisely because people are bored at home, they’re looking for ways to learn new skills online. Blogs, forums and online courses are experiencing unforeseen levels of unique visitors, which adds up to an increase in coffee education.
Coffee has always been madly popular, but only a few people take the time to really get to know their beans, roasting grades, and brewing methods. Well, that will change in 2021. Along with ‘in-speriences’ like virtual coffee tastings, coffee education will increase massively, and that’s a win any way you see it. The more you know about coffee, the more you’ll appreciate it.
4. Ready to Drink and Automation
Coffee lovers will enjoy their favorite drinks, whether or not they can go out to get them. This has made ready to drink or RID coffee specialties boom. Now you can experience your favorite coffee shop specialties from a can or bottle, and the stuff is good! Expect to see much more of it in 2021.
Together with pre-made coffee, we’ll also see more and better automatic coffee machines on the market, and with them, more creative coffee pods. There’s a lot of premiumization going on, but diversity is also more significant than ever.
5. Enjoying Specialty Coffee at Home
With coffee shops going out of business thanks and restrictive social measures, people now make their coffee at home, and they’re going way beyond an espresso shot.
What to do if you can’t buy your typical double-shot mocha latte frappuccino? You make your own. With the trending DIY short videos in social networks, including Instagram and TikTok, it has taken the trend of making specialty coffee at home to new levels.
One such new coffee style, a foamy easy-to-make concoction that uses simple ingredients, is the Dalgona coffee. What started as a viral video from Korea is now a drink everyone’s replicating around the world.
